We have finalized plans for the Lake Ming Race on September 24 & 25. There will NOT be a 2nd Ming race on Oct. 29/30.
I will have host hotel (La Quinta Bakersfield) racer rate room info and race circular done shortly.
Camping fee's went up according to the contract from $30 ($15/day) to $40 ($20/day) whether occupied or not. So if you are bringing a hauler and not staying in it the Ranger/Kern County doesn't distinguish, plan on paying the fee. Also, all fee's will be collected on Saturday.
I will getting all info up on the SCSC website shortly.
All classes will be on the schedule (last chance points in Region 12 for racing season)
SS, PS, Crackerbox, KRR, GN, Comp Jet, Nostalgia(s), SE, COR, SST-45, PWC, Stock outboard.
Three heat races per day at Long Beach gave us a fair amount of time on the water and even more exposure to the spectators. What did you racers think of the 3 heat format? If we, as COR racers, liked it, I will "push" for it at Bakersfield and Isleton (Oct 1 &2). It makes it easy for the officials, COR boats very seldom break, they are easy to get into and out of the water, they work well with a 3 minute start, they can sit in the water at the "ready" without fear of sinking. The speeds of all of the boats are pretty close making for spectator appeal. Best of all, the last few races have brought out nearly full fields of COR boats. The spectators can identify with these boats as most are production boats. Rod #88
I liked it too, although It would seem Ross couldn't keep the schedule, perhaps other classes with "sinkers" forced him to re-arrange the day's schedule. Just puts a point on it to be ready at a moments notice, because you couldn't plan on having three heats in front of you.
Below is the link for the Bakersfield race circular- Last Chance Shoot Out on September 24 & 25. Please pre-register to Jeannie Doidge (see race circular) by September 21 as it helps us get started on time!!!
You can go to www.scscracing.com and click on the "forms" page to download an entry form and print and either fax or mail it to Jeannie Doidge (see sanction for all info) you may pay with credit card, again fill out and sign the credit card authorization form and send with your registration to Jeannie Doidge on before Wednesday, September 21, 2011.
Please note that if you are camping, the fee is $40 for the weekend, even if you are not sleeping in your camper/toy hauler/semi, per Kern County.
Also, if you are testing on Thursday, you must vacate the Lake after testing (can't stay overnight again per the county) and then come back on Friday morning.
We will have BBQ 4U again selling their award winning BBQ on-site.
If you have haven't made your hotel reservations, the host hotel is the La Quinta Inn 3232 Riverside Drive (800) 527-1498, the racer rate has expired.
I have attached the updated high points.
Any questions please call or email.
See you in Bakersfield!
Sincerely,
Ross Wallach, Race Director

It appears Bill James has lost an engine while testing this week-end. Jetting is critical in the 2.0 engines and a lean jet can "toast" an engine in just a few short moments. The Lake Ming race now appears to be down to Kevin Taylor, Mike Q, Dave/Tim Caranza?, Skip Euwing. I have offered Bill a "drop-on" for both Bakersfield and Isleton if he cares to give it a "go". Rod
I am sending my entry blank in today. I now have a complete engine and a complete boat--all I have to do is put the two together in time for the race--If you intend to race at Ming, ya'll better get your entries in or pay the price! Rod
The word on the street is that Mike Q found the "key" to winning in the 2nd and 3rd heats, beating the current high points leader Kevin Taylor to the finish line. Dave and Tim Caranza rounded out the field of only boats to show but could not get the rrrrr's to victory. Tomorrow brings 3 more heats and a chance for the #234 and @45 boat to put together a win. Rod
Mike Q 1st, Kevin Taylor 2nd, David/Tim Caranza 3rd. Nice racing guys now on to Isleton. I hope all of you will give sme extra thought to going. These people want us and are willing to pay not only tow money but 1st thru 5th. This sure takes the sting out of the drive--ASK YOURSELF, WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WERE PAID TO RACE YOUR BOAT? Rod
